Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) in Baltimore is seeking applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track Faculty member and Graduate Program Director in the Art Therapy department, beginning Summer 2025. The MA in Art Therapy Graduate Program Director would teach six courses per academic year (2-1-2-1). Courses may include, but are not limited to: History and Theory of Art Therapy, Group Process, and Marital and Family Art Therapy. The Director will also oversee all matters related to the program's annual ACATE accreditation data management and reporting, ensuring readiness for the next self-study around 2028. The Director will collaborate closely with the Department Chair on graduate student placement, instructional needs, and enrollment efforts. They will lead recruitment and enrollment strategies, liaising with the Administrative Assistant, Enrollment, and Marketing. Additionally, they will vet and recommend faculty hires to maintain high instructional standards. Initially accredited by CAAHEP in 2022, the MA in Art Therapy Program is a traditional, in-person, 12-month program, uniquely situated as Maryland's only graduate art therapy training. It emphasizes community-based practice, working with a maximum cohort of sixteen students, and utilizes a fall-entry model. The program aligns with NDMU's mission to prepare clinicians committed to social justice, cultural attunement, and community service through inclusive art therapy practices. The university fosters a vibrant, inclusive environment with strong community partnerships, emphasizing individualized attention and continual program development. Faculty are expected to be engaged in university life, including advising, committee work, and university events. The successful candidate should be an art therapist with: An MA or PhD in Art Therapy ATR-BC credential (or eligible) Maryland licensure or eligibility (LCPAT) They should demonstrate recent professional practice, active participation in professional organizations, ongoing scholarly work, and experience with instructional methodologies. Prior college teaching and leadership experience are highly valued.
