Job Description

About Us:

FirstWave is a long/short hedge fund launching in June/July 2025 with an expected $250+ million AUM. FirstWave’s investment strategy is built upon deep research to find the most undervalued and misunderstood growth companies with the strongest fundamentals and most compelling, underappreciated catalysts in an attempt to identify the best asymmetric risk/reward opportunities. While it’s great to have a high batting average, we believe a high slugging percentage is way more important when generating outsized returns over the long-term which means we want our highest conviction ideas to be our biggest positions. We hedge our high-beta growth strategy using a combination of ETFs, options and single stock shorts.

Position Summary:

The Hedge Fund Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day functions and infrastructure of the fund, ensuring seamless execution, settlement, reconciliation of trades and coordination with service providers including fund admin, prime broker and custodian. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of our operational processes, improving efficiencies, and supporting portfolio managers, traders, client managers and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage trade lifecycle operations: trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation
  • Maintain and enhance operational processes and workflows to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Liaise with prime brokers, custodians, fund administrators, and internal teams
  • Supervise NAV calculations, fund accounting processes, and capital activity (subscriptions, redemptions, transfers)
  • Oversee daily cash and position reconciliations across multiple accounts and strategies
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk controls
  • Partner with technology teams to drive automation and improve reporting systems
  • Support audits, investor due diligence, and regulatory filings
  • Lead and mentor junior operations staff (when needed)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is preferred); MBA or CPA a plus
  • 5–10 years of experience in hedge fund operations (experience in fund administration a plus)
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, must also enjoy problem solving
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Why Join Us:

  • Opportunity to join a hedge fund at an early stage and play a crucial role in our success over the next 10+ years
  • Competitive compensation package with performance incentives
  • Full benefits including 401(k), health/dental/vision insurance
  • Exposure to a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment
  • Collaborative, high-integrity work culture

To Apply:

  • Please send your resume and a brief cover letter to jobs@firstwavefund.com
  • Please put “Hedge Fund Operations Manager” in the subject line.
