The White Hall School District is seeking a Middle School Music Teacher/Choir Director for the 2025 school year. Position Purpose To develop students' interest, abilities, talents, and skills for music expression and creativity in the visual arts, as well as aesthetic understanding and appreciation by implementing district-approved curriculum. Responsible for documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes, developing lesson plans, and modeling the necessary skills to perform assigned tasks. Essential Functions Develops and administers school art curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to optimize music instruction. Provides instruction to develop aesthetic concepts, appreciation, and the ability to make qualitative judgments about music. Conducts ongoing assessment of student skills and learning in musical techniques and expression, modifying instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Develops instructional plans and organizes class time for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and practice. Instructs pupils in proper care and use of tools and equipment used in music classes. Evaluates student performance and growth, and prepares progress reports. Continuously updates professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, or conducting research. Maintains accurate records of student activities, achievement, and attendance as per district policies and laws. Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with students and parents. Ensures student conduct aligns with school standards and policies, establishing a positive learning environment. Coordinates with other staff and participates in faculty meetings and committees. Requisitions and maintains inventory of books, materials, and equipment. Provides a safe and conducive learning environment. Provides feedback on student progress to students, parents, and administration. Additional Duties Performs other tasks as assigned by the Principal and district administrators. Equipment Uses standard office equipment and travels to district buildings and meetings as required. Work Schedule Follows the standard teacher work schedule as per the Teachers' Unit Contract. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of current music instructional methods and differentiation based on learning styles. Knowledge of art curriculum and concepts. Understanding of applicable laws regarding education and students. Proficiency in computer systems and software. Organizational and communication skills. Ability to self-evaluate and pursue professional growth. Ability to establish cooperative relationships.
