The Retirement Consultant (RC) works as a member of a broader team with a collaborative culture responsible for over $3.5B in annual asset retention, including IRA rollover flows. The RC educates and assists 401(k) participants who are terminating or retiring to make informed decisions about their retirement assets. The RC will exercise expertise in John Hancock investment options and the various education-based and advice-based methodologies essential for facilitating rollovers into a John Hancock IRA that best meets the participant’s needs. Using discretion and judgment, the RC collaborates with other key roles within the Personal Financial Services team and manages inbound and outbound calls to assist participants with their retirement needs in a timely manner. Responsibilities Educate participants on the differences, nuances, and advantages of various distribution options and products to help them make informed decisions. Present options and offer solutions aligned with the participant’s goals to facilitate informed choices. Quickly analyze and assess the needs of participants, present suitable options, and take appropriate actions. Assist advisors from partner firms with the distribution process; refer leads to plan advisors as needed. Become well-versed in John Hancock’s 401(k) and IRA products. Become an expert on John Hancock investment options and methodologies. Assist participants with opening or funding a John Hancock IRA account. Work directly with financial intermediaries to channel assets into John Hancock. Provide a superior customer experience while assisting participants with their decisions. Review participants’ current 401(k) investment line-ups and compare with John Hancock IRA options. Leverage investment tools like John Hancock’s Fund Matching tool. Achieve monthly activity and efficiency targets. Adhere to high standards of integrity and professionalism. Participate in training and development programs for skill enhancement and career growth. Share successful ideas and process improvements within the team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1-3 years of financial services experience, preferably in phone or sales roles. Securities industry Essentials (SIE), Series 6, 63 exams required; Series 65 within 6 months of hire. Passion for helping individuals on a one-on-one basis. Spanish language skills are a plus. Strong listening, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Understanding of policies and procedures.
